Decoupage Class

I decided to learn a new skill… the art of decoupage – from the French word découper, meaning to cut out. It is a craft that entails pasting cut-outs (typically paper) to an object and then covering them with several coats of varnish or pva glue in my case.

What was a boring wood box has now been prettied and is being used as a cd case.

As I have been away for so long.. I thought I would share what I have been up to.

This was a mini project, using an old nasty brown bookcase which I had been using hidden away in my spare room. I had several tins of tester pots of paint to use up plus some of the matching green left over from the front room.

My plan was to convert the bookcase into a thing of beauty and therefore could be brought out of hiding and into use in the front room.

I used a primer and 1st coat all in one initially, then the outside blue followed by the inside green.

See what you think of the result in the slideshow below.
